You Are In Control Of Your Thoughts.

Our brains are something special. They contain every thought, emotion, and memory. They control are movement and senses, and we don't give them enough credit. But, as well as being the control center of our bodies, they have a power over us that sometimes we find hard to dissociate ourselves from. These things are the source of whether we appear happy, or sad, or stressed and in pain. It is possible to be in control of our thoughts. Positive people have negative thoughts. They just don't let it control them. This world has a way of making it seem as if self-criticism is the only outcome for failure. I can't tell you how many times I've stayed up overthinking every interaction I've had that day where I embarrassed myself or wondering why I bombed a test I studied my hardest for. It happens to the best of us, and I have criticized myself time and time again. It really took a toll on my self-confidence and on my confidence in God. I felt like I was losing trust. I would constantly ask myself, "Why am I like this?" and just give into negative thinking.See, the more we feed into negative thoughts, the more they begin to become a reality. About a year ago, I decided to change my way of thinking and meditate on the positive and on God's voice. What seemed like a horrible ending turned into tiny miracles that I could not have achieved without God.When I began college, I had a solid plan for my life and I was so positive. It turned out that God had a different plan for me and I began to let negative thoughts consume me. Something that people in their 20s tend to struggle with is the idea of being behind in life and not living up to their fullest potential. We're constantly comparing our lives to our friends and acquaintances--even people we don't know. Comparison is a confidence killer. If you can stay positive in your season of uncertainty and the fear of not knowing the future, you will come out a thousand time better than if you give into negativity. So, all those self-critical negative thoughts that the world tells us is the proper way to deal with uncertainty and failure is something we allow. We can control what we feed to our brains. Instead of telling yourself that you can't do something assure yourself that you can. And you actually can. With perseverance, positive thinking, and God, anything is possible.words by Tiffany Campbell and photo  by Arianna TaralsonSaveSave
